Homepage - still under Construction Interesting Facts Johann Wolfgang Leitzel is probably the ancestor of all living Leitzel & Leitzell's. Johan came to the USA from Nuremberg Germany in 1753 on board the "Peggy", sailing out of Rotterdam. He was a Lutheran Minister who lived in Pennsylvania, USA. The name seems to have died out in Europe, not long after Johann sailed to the US. We don't know why. There is a fayence plate with a self-portrait painting of Christoph Andreas Leitzel dated 1720, and held in the Germanisches Museum in Nuremberg.
